Back to College Today

Well its our first day and only day back to college after a week off due to Valentines Day and an In-Service day on Tuesday.  It has been a funny kind of day with nothing really much happening just revising again for our Set and Dress Exam and a very long lunch break.  But I am looking forward to this afternoon as i have a beauty treatment booked every thursday for the next while.  I love getting treatments at the Beauty Department as they are so relaxing and it is a good excuse for me to relax before i get stuck in to housework when i get home.

Happy Chinese New Year

Hi there its Chinese New Year this week and although I haven't done anything to celebrate it yet - I see a lot of decorations around the college with posters of Chinese Lunar Animals.  I really like this type of horoscope things although I dont really fully believe them.  According to the calander, it is Year of the Rabbit.  I was born under the Year of the Water Ox - and it says that I am very sociable and can see into peoples hearts and minds making me an enjoyable person to be around and people like to be around me.  So that sounds good enough for me.

Anyway back to college life! It has been somewhat a funny day with exams being cancelled and rooms being changed and timetable changing slightly.  This is because it is is the start of a new block this week (block 2).

I am excited to know that the Beauty Therapy Department are now open to the public and they are taking in clients now, so that is a bonus and it is even better because Hairdressing students get 25% discount off all treatments.  No doubt I will be booking myself in for some exciting new treatments soon.

HI HO - New to this Blogging thing!!!

Hi there folks I just created this Blog site on Blogger.com and it looks pretty easy and simple to get going, my email address seems long (www.whatshappeninglornasblog.blogspot.com) but never mind i got there in the end!:)

Today I am sitting in Slyvias Class and as part of my assessment work I have to create and keep this blog going every week to pass my IT level 1.  I am doing Hairdressing at Banff and Buchan College in Fraserbrugh and loving it.  Learning new stuff every week and hopefully by the end of next year i will be able to actually cut and style hair, but am hoping to do the third year as an extra year to become more competent with my hairdressing skills.

I am the Class Student Rep also and I enjoy the extra challenge of having to attend meetings and keep up to date with current affairs and ecological stuff (college going green and carbon footprint stuff) - all interesting stuff!  We have to think of ways to help make the college make less of a carbon footprint and more energy efficient - one way we thought was putting windmills on the roof of the college to make energy to supply the washing machines and tumble dryers in our salon.  Who knows if this will transpire but it was our suggestion since we go through an awful lot of towels and robes in a day between Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Classes next door.
